Hello there everybody!
So we're into the fourth month of 2016. That.
Was.
Fast.
So today is actually this blog's birthday. So it's been exactly three years since I put up my very first post in my little corner on the internet. If this is the first blog post of mine or the 42nd blog post of mine that you're reading, just a massive Thank You for stumbling across this space on the internet! Or as the Japanese say, Arigatou gozaimashita!
So from the 8th of April to the 16th of April, I time travelled. I'm not joking! For a person from India, travelling to Japan is like travelling to the future. Everything, and I mean E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G, is automated! Have any of you seen Cars 2? In the movie one of the characters, Mater, tries to figure out how to use a cubicle in a washroom and he just ends up spraying water everywhere! Well, the first time I tried to use a washroom in Japan, that is EXACTLY what happened to me! One place, I couldn't even figure out how to open a washroom door. Sad, but true.
Japan was just an absolutely beautiful place! The people were so nice and so disciplined, it was just unbelievable. I was going in queues while entering a train, while entering an elevator, even whilst going on an escalator! Let's just say that in India, it's an entirely different story.
The place is just so well maintained and neat. You can see ladies in high heels picking up trash.
The food was quite, umm, interesting. I have a very low tolerance to spice and there isn't a lot of spice in Japanese food, so I actually enjoyed most of it. I say 'most' because I happened to try sushi for the first time whilst in Japan and I found that sushi is only an acquired taste. In one sitting I had raw octopus, raw squid, raw prawns, raw salmon and raw fish eggs. Let's just say that it's not something I look forward to again.
The temples there are just so serene. Most of the ones I visited in a city called Kyoto were hidden in the mountains, engulfed by nature. These were the places you just had to pinch yourself to believe that that beautiful place is right in front of your eyes.
Two other places I can't compliment enough are Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Studios, Osaka. The amount of detail gone into the making of those two places is just absolutely astounding. It's not just for the rides and thrills that I fell in love with those places, it's the atmosphere there. Just entering the parks makes you happy and puts a smile on your face, whatever situation you may be in. All your worries become background noise in these parks. Also, just everyone who comes here has the time of their life, regardless of their age! I've never been to an amusement park of their caliber before, so I was just gob smacked.
Something I always end up doing is visiting an aquarium or a zoo when I visit a new place. In Japan, I ended up going to both. I have to say, even these two places were built with so much finesse. I've never seen anything like it.
So yeah! That was a glimpse from my trip to Japan.
I hope you enjoyed today's post!
Again, a massive Thank You for taking your time to read my blog. It means the absolute world to me :)
Auf Wiedersehen.

That Indian Blogger
