Proud To Be An Indian?

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Hello there!
So, long time no see. Yes its been a looong time hasn't it? Damn. Ok so this time I am not going to crib about how long its been since I last posted (which was on the 26th June, which was exactly 50 days ago and just thinking about that makes me depressed. ), instead lets get right to it!
So India celebrated its 69th Independence Day the other day, and it's a national holiday like this that really brings the entire country together! I think India is one place where you have a HUUUGE spectrum of people and on the 15th of August this HUUUGE spectrum just becomes one single color and it is truly a beautiful sight!
So if you ask me, 'Are you proud to be an India?', I would give you a very vague answer! I do have a number of reasons! So, India is not a very rich country and a vast population of the country is not educated, so a lot of people just don't know the difference between right and wrong! For example, Indian roads. Let me tell you, there is not ONE person who follows the rules and driving here is an absolute nightmare. Another thing is that a majority of the country is still VERY orthodox and conservative, a lot of points cannot be put forward here and because of this women face a loottt of difficulties. Another evil prevalent in the country, probably the worst one, is the caste system. Now people will tell you that it is eradicated but nooo, it is very much present, from the slums to the rich households. Caste is the biggest wall that is yet to be torn down.
Now having said all that, India is not a bad place to live in, despite what the newspapers tell you. A lot of evil people may be living here but there are a larger number of truly amazing and inspiring people who are born and brought up here. All the way from Mahatma Gandhi to the beloved Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. And the number of cultures in India is something that is absolutely AMAZING. Every direction you look in you find people in different clothes, speaking different languages, eating a huge variety of food, practicing different cultures, religions etc etc! And honestly speaking, just being a part of that and experiencing it everyday is just magical! One of my dreams is to live in Europe, now many of you from India would want to settle somewhere abroad as well, and that's ok, I don't think that that makes you less of a patriot but I do think at the end of the day we must never ever forget where we belong! The Motherland. You might go to all corners of the Earth but wherever you go, you will be an Indian. And I believe we must be proud. Indians invented the goddamn numbers! Ughh.
So yeah! You may take the Indian out of India but you cant take the India out of the Indian. :P
Sooooo that was my post! Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Auf Wiedersehen. :')
